lyrics

Come the Rain

Come the rain with me
Through the tall corn the growing seed
Come the rain right now
From a darkening distant cloud
It’s raining on the other side
It’s raining now in my mind
See it swirling slashing down
See it galloping i smell it now

I did dance among the corn
Beneath the gaze of Medicine Mountain
Sunflowers filled the sky
With unblinking eyes
The earth came alive

Silly souls waiting in the bushes
Froggie-woggie never really hushes
The bear is in the berries
Wildflowers waving in the air

on the soggy trodden plain
whence rises Medicine Mountain
in shallow footprint lakes
Drifting clouds are shaped
By the horizon’s rain

Quiet as complete as a raindrop
To a thirsty tongue hits the skullcap
So deep that you can hear a leaf drop
Or the sound of hooves churning the mud up
The water washing over all
Erodes into the source of life
Come the rain right now
Then strike again in the middle of the night

Splitting open a wide blue sky
Spitting thunder from under the mountain
Across the shimmering lakes
Spirits send their shapes
The wind whistles and moans
Where have the heron flown
where have the buffalo gone
where did the wild wolves go
where have the hungry bears gone
where is the little froggie’s song
where did the wild ones go?
